Basically we just bought a few xpe copies so we can set it up on our POS
machines and found that there is no Default Beep event available anymore, i
am wondering if there is any tool that allows you to add more sound events to
the limited list there is in XPe?

There is a Beep Driver component, and you will need the system speaker
component too. Did you have these as part of the configuration?

I cannot find any "Beep Driver" component.

I am using SP2 Feature Pack 2007. Sean's message is over a year old.
Perhaps the driver has been renamed.

I am having the same problem (I think) as Shalquin. Control Panel /
Sounds presents very few events to assign sounds to. I have installed
the "Audio Control Panel" component, which provides no relevant options.

Sean,

Thanks for the response.

Both the Beep Driver and System Speaker are in fact installed on the
system I am working on - I didn't see them (or at least the Beep driver)
due to visibility.

But Control Panel/Sounds only shows 7 events that sounds can be assigned
to; 5 are for "Explorer," the other two are for "Default": "Select" and
"Show Toolbar Panel"

I am trying to assign a sound to the "Default beep" which is invoked
when the user clicks outside a modal window.

Hi Guys,

I work in a software house in San Marino.
On some machine we install W Embedded POS.
We have the ne necessity to hear the sound
that match the event named "exclamation" because
it is important for the program we run.

We have tried to import some registry key (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents
\Schemes\Apps\.Default)
from windows xp PRO and we are able now to see
the event we need and associate the sound.
But it don't work. :(
Analyzing deeply the problem i found that it isn't
a wrong configuration of the events the cause,
because also the events installed with the OS WEPOS don't work...

I hope to had been helpful and that
someone continue this discussion
to find a solution.

see u soon

Andrea
