XPe licensing..

Hi folks,

We are evaluating XPe and I can't understand how licensing is working, there
is not too much info in MSDN.. There are questions which are still not clear
for me..

We will receive product key for our image. Is this key depends on number of
components we will use in our XPe platform? Should we receive new one if
we'll change our platform?

If I understood correctly, each distributed device should have own runtime
license. Where we'll get it (generate through some MS's customers portal or
just receive bunch of licenses for using) and how it can be entered in
device (during deployment, during FBA run, like activation in XP Pro, etc.)?

regards, Alexey Gravanov.

Hi Alexey,
We will receive product key for our image
No, you will receive product key for XPe tools.

For image you will use key supplied on COA sticker that you must place on each device with XPe.
You need to use only key from one COA sticker for all your devices. No need for entering different keys for all devices.
This means that process of activation is very easy/non-existent.

Best regards,
Slobodan

Thanks for info..

But I guess we should pay for number of devices distributed, no? If yes, how
devices can be counted, except out local records?

Hi Alexey,

For each device you must supply one COA sticker that you buy from your distributor. That is it.
Each of them have serial number that you can write down for your own reference if you want, but point is that this sticker is only
what you need to provide with your device to make it licensed.

No need for changing numbers in XPe image.

Best regards,
Slobodan

Yeah, that's exactly what I wanted to ask :)

Thanks again ;)
