Is there a list somewhere of what needs installing for certain functions,
for example, if i need the command line prompt, what module do i need
and another example
i need to be able to change screen resolution, what module do i need ?

I am sure there is a list somewhere, it's the somewhere that's getting me

Not that I'm aware of. If I know the name of a file associated with a
feature I want to use, I set up a filter for that file name. Then I can
see all components that include that file.

for example, if i need the command line prompt, what
module do i need

That is supplied by "CMD - Windows Command Processor".

I have never had any success getting screen resolution changes made in
TD to stick, even when using the standard VGA driver.

Yes, detailed documentation is sadly lacking, and the newsgroup support
has decreased recently too. Perhaps most of the resources are going
into WES.

XPe screen resolution

I have only worked with Wyse version of XPe, but had to find a way to change screen size and keep it.

I had modified an Image from Wyse and uploaded it to 2 'identical' units and one booted in 800x600 and the other 1024x768. I have not checked why yet.

But, I followed the steps below to make the changes available, steps are using Wyse, but written basically.

If the Write Protect is enabled, it needs to be disabled.

Log back into Administrator, go into

Display Properties- Settings - Advanced - Monitor

Uncheck “Hide modes that this monitor cannot display”

Click OK, and you should be able to change the resolution.

Like I said above, I have only used Wyse Images of XPe, and with this I can change resolution. I still cannot pick what physical type of monitor, but the configuration works ok.
