David

I have a number of XPe systems that we have had to pull
from the network due to blaster worm infections. We can
clean them but cannot patch them. Tried using
Q823980_XPE_SP2_X86_ENU.EXE but it requires SP1. There
is no indication in the system control panel that these
are SP1.

Is there a patch, or can you provide instruction for
installing the RPC patch for these systems? These are
patient care systems and Monday is approaching fast. Help!

Thanks!

David

David,
If you're in the US, to expedite this call me at 425 417-1496, i'm available
right now. If you don't/can't call, contact me offline, remove "online" from
the address.

Since the workaround to integrate the RTM bits is slightly different,
marketing is working on a public document right now, but i can help speed
things up offline.

Andy, we are using also embeddedXP Clients without SP1. I tried to update
the dll's manual from Q823980_XPE_SP2_X86_ENU.EXE and it seems to work. I
have just renamed the original dll's on the Clients and copied the dll's
from the patch to the Clients.
Is it the right way to patch embeddedXP Clients without SP1?

Jon Fincher will be posting the final version of a document this morning
that outlines how to get the RTM binaries from the QFE for FULL XP-PRO.

But basically, when you expand the QFE for FULL XP-PRO with winzip, the
files located in the SP1 folder are for the RTM version of XP & XPe. The
files in the SP2 folder are destined for XP SP1 & XPe-SP1. Also, there will
be some registry keys you will need to apply to the device along with the
files, those keys will be listed in the document as well.

Not all QFEs for XP-PRO can be applied in this manner to XPe RTM. in this
case you can do it.

Keep an eye out for Jon's document.

Thanks
