XP3, HD Audio & KB888111XPSP2

I've found a number of reposts of articles on how to get HD working with SP3.
They talk about a KB888111xpsp2.exe file. However, all are reposts. I've yet
to find an original that still has a live link to a download of that file.

If someone knows where it is, please let me know the url.

You will find quite a few places to get the file through an internet search.
Evidently, it is part of KB888111; in fact it may be the installer.
An internet search resulted in support.microsoft.com/kb/888111

Gee, gosh, an internet search. Golly wiz, why didn't I think of that?

Try the link you posted. If it "works" the way it did for me -- before I
posted here -- the hotfix request will send you an email with a link THAT
DOESN'T WORK. Then, when you try to reach support to get a working link,
they'll give you a runaround.

I also did find an older version, KB835221.exe, but it did not work and I s
till have:
1) An Unknown SM Bus Controller in Other Devices
2) an Unknown Device in Sound, video and game controllers

So XP is still not recognizing the HD audio.

Guess what, I used multiple searches and I don't need a Master of the
Obvious telling me to search. I'm looking for a link to the specific file. If
anyone knows of a DIRECT LINK to the specific file mentioned, I would greatly
appreciate seeing it.

The file you are looking for is the installer for KB888111.

Please, go to the nearest Community College. Most are very good. Check its
English department for a class in reading comprehension. Have the instructor
explain the following to you: "Try the link you posted. If it "works" the way
it did for me -- before I posted here -- the hotfix request will send you an
email with a link THAT DOESN'T WORK. Then, when you try to reach support to
get a working link, they'll give you a runaround."

Then go to the page, have the instructor show you the link at the top of the
page, the one in BLUE that's titled "View and request hotfix downloads" and
have the instructor relate the problem I described to that link.

Stop typing here until you've done that.
