i recently got a new computer and installed my xp on this
also, ive added my old main drive to this computer which
was my xp bootup drive.
i cannot access anything i had on that drive any more,
and i have a lot of important documents on it.
please help

Hi, was your old drive formatted as NTFS and your new one to FAT32, if so
you'll not be able to see your old one until you convert the new file system
to NTFS....

Totally incorrect. It's the operating system that limits the file systems
that can be seen, it makes no difference what file system is used for the
installation. WinXP can see/use either file system simultaneously regardless
of which file system you install it to.

Hi,

1) Is the drive recognized in the system BIOS?
2) Set the installed location to autodetect in the BIOS?
3) Reseat cabling and power supply.
4) Do you see the drive in Device Manager?
5) Start/run diskmgmt.msc, is the drive listed and what does it tell you
about the installed file system for it?
6) Is the drive assigned a letter in Windows Explorer (or "My Computer")?
