Consider yourself lucky. Don't install SP1 at this
time. Wait for an updated version. SP1 is full of bugs
and errors. Just download a periodic Hotfix or Qxxxxx
update that will suffice for the time being.

It may be for you (though I suspect this is a BCAK error) but, in general,
it isn't. I've installed it with no problems.

Greetings --

If you bought the HP PC new, from a reputable dealer, than HP is
your sole source of support. In fact, they have a patch available on
their site to make their "customized" version of the OS compatible
with Service Pack 1.

However, your post leads me to think that something isn't quite
right.

Are you trying to install Service Pack 1 and getting the
following?

The Product Key Used to Install Windows Is Invalid

More than likely, you'll need to purchase and use a legitimate
full copy of WinXP to perform a repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade)
installation, using the new CD and Product Key.

Remember, you should also report whomever sold you the computer
and pirated software to your local law enforcement agency.
