Seminary student question: Do the operating system title letters xp refer to
greek letters chi rho, a first century reference to Christ?

Nope. They stand for eXPerience
Google would have told you that.

Thank you. Google is an excellent search engine, but I thought it best to go
to a Microsoft Newsgroup for my beginner question.

It's always better to help yourself first and do some research, it's highly
unlikely that you are the first person to have what ever question you have.

No, of course not. The letters "refer" to the Windows eXPerience.
Also, any computer gamer can understand that "XP" is the common acronym
for "Experience Points."

Experience was a buzz word used long before XP was released.
And what gaming and experience points has to do with the XP OS is heavily
veiled to me.

I once knew a man in the aircraft business. I forget what the name of his
first aircraft was, but it seemed like a veiled name relative to the fact
that he used it to get investor money, contract as binding as a Trump
handshake, and then managed to use that capital for other purposes. Several
years later, he did it a second time. I personally wondered if his doing
this gave him a pair-of-grins, the name of the second plane, Peregrine.

Quite astute of you to guess the possible XP connection to the symbol
carried by crusaders, was it not? If so, quite veiled indeed. But then where
do you go with possibly Longhorn, or the final release, Vista?
