napleswm02

i have gone to microsoft and checked for updates needed
whcih it says 39............so i try to download
including the windows xp service pack as well as many
more recommended by microsoft i keep getting the
message that i have to check the cryptographic service
which i have an it is running...............i cant
download any of these inculding the security patch
microsoft is saying i should have please tell me how to
do this
 
Hi there Naples,

I think this article might help you resolve your problem. It's from the
Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Confirm that the error you are receiving is indicated in the upper section,
then see the procedure for the Resolution in the lower section.

Also, one word of note.... If you have many updates to download, take them
in smaller groups, over the course of a few days, or even weeks.... Some
require a reboot, and some do not. Do the Service Pack 1 update first.
Make sure your System Restore options are set to create restore points
automatically, so you'll have a place to go back to, should you encounter a
problem. If you do too many updates at once, knowing which one caused the
problem will be tough to figure out. (Not trying to alarm you - you should
be fine. Just take it slow). Read up on System Restore in "Help and
Support".

thanks for your reply...........
i have tried downloading the service pak alone 12 times
1....it downloads fine
2. it seems to be installing fine..........then a new
window pops covering the installation box with the
following message "setup could not verify this make sure
you cryptic service is on.........then there has a button
with ok on it you hit it and it stops installing and
disappears..........

steps?
