XP Zip Utilty

Hello
According to what I've read form Microsoft; when I'm in "my computer" while
in the C root, I should be able to go to the file menue and select: new and
then compressed folder to create a new compressed folder, which I can not do.
Yet, if I right click on a folder I'm able to compress it. Does any one know:
are the two mutually exclusive or is there something wrong with the software?

And what does "which I can not do" mean"? That the File menu isn't
shown in Windows Explorer? That there is no File -> New submenu? That
under the File -> New submenu that there is no "Compressed (Zipped)
Folder" entry? That when you select a drive or folder under which to
place the new folder that using File -> New -> Compressed (Zipped)
Folder does not create a new folder with the name already selected for
you to give it a name? That the new folder gets created but you cannot
open it? We're not there to know firsthand what "can not do" means.
 
The assumption is that while you might want to compress a folder or files,
you're unlikely to want to compress an entire phsyical partition. If you
wish to create a ZIP of an entire partition, you'll need a 3rd party
utility.

file/folder Utility" : does anyone have a clue how to do that?

What, I should've offered a couple more dozen guesses in trying to
figure out what "can not do" meant?
 
I was able to solve the problem by Re associating the "xp Compresser
utility"; I now have it on the explorer file menue and when I right click. If
one googles long enough I guess you can find anythig! Now for another
subject: I have been using the " news forum" for over (6) years and almost
without exception the people using the service have been very responsible and
helpful. That is until now; Microsoft should exclude people how violate the
rules of contact they signed up for when they joined. Vanguard. Thanks.

I don't believe your claim that you have been visiting the Usenet for 6
years; otherwise, you would have a clue as to how it operates. Forums
that are operated by a company or controlled by a suite of moderators
are not what is Usenet.

This is Usenet, not Microsoft. Everyone here is a volunteer, or a
visitor such as yourself. It is a community of *users*. It is NOT
somewhere for you to get free access to Microsoft's technical support
employees. If you want to talk to Microsoft support, pay for it.

Usenet is an anarchy. Usenet was derived from "user network". Note the
term "user". It's not called MSnet or Micronet. Despite Microsoft's
attempt to usurp newsgroups for their own purpose, like wrapping them
under a webnews-for-dummies interface and adding keywords to the headers
for "suggestion" categories, Microsoft doesn't control Usenet. The
microsoft.public.* newsgroups are unmoderated. Go read:
