I am logged in as administrator

I am trying to install the software and the error is

eset service failed to start.
Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services

This is almost the same error I get installing WIndows Defender.

Is there some global problem on my system??

There is no way for us to tell if there is "some global problem" on your
system. You haven't told us anything about your system and we can't see
it from here. ;-)

Most commonly failure to install antivirus/antispyware programs is
because of pre-existing virus/malware infection. So you probably want to
make sure your computer is clean by going through these steps
systematically first:

I will try installing Nod32 in safe mode and see what happens.

That's fine if it works for you. It's not what I'd do, but it's your
computer and your time.

Since it appears that you can not install an antivirus nor Windows
Defender it appears *likely* that the system is now owned by someone
other than yourself, Miklos.
Is there any anti-malware software installed ?
You could try: Solving setup errors by using the SubInACL tool to
repair file and registry permissions
http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2006/09/04/739820.aspx

At least you'll know if it's an OS glitch or malware then.
Suggest you try here if malware is suspected:

Scan Your Computer with Kaspersky SOS
http://usa.kaspersky.com/products_services/free-virus-scanner.php

IF you can get that installed perhaps you will have a fighting chance
against whatever the malware is.
