On Friday Norton did a sweep of my Sony Vaio desktop for any virus.
When it finished I tried to switch it off and it froze. Then on Saturday I
tried starting my machine and Norton goback told me there was a problem and
gave me the boot up options (normal, safe, last known good config & etc).
It does not matter which option I pick the pc freezes. No hard disk activity.
I don't have the XP home CD (XP came already installed on my machine). I do
have the Sony "restore" CD's...however... there are a couple of files I need
and would like to retrieve, if possible.
How do I get windows functional again and is there any chance of getting to
the files?
