I have bad sectors on 80 gig hard drive. The system
reboots half way through loading acrobate professional 6.0
and also reboots on other tasks. Could a Damaged hard
drive cause irractic problems in installation etc

Thanks anyone

Hello

Well you can re-format the drive provided that you back-up
your data and you can send the drive back to the manufacturer
and get a replacement provided it's under warranty

Certainly

Most all drives have a number of bad sectors, and extra
sectors just in case. The drive's internal system usually
finds these bad sectors and immediately copies the
information to another sector and marks that bad sector,
never to be used again.

However, if the drive is failing rapidly, the information
in a bad sector may have been copied incorrectly, causing
undesired operation(reboot) when the system tries to read
that file in that sector.

The best thing you could do is, use the manufacturers
diagnostic utility to test the drive for errors. These
tools are usually included with retail box drives, or they
can be downloaded from the manufacturers website.

Good Luck
