Hi,

I posted here before because the wireless network I set
up for my neighbour suddenly stopped working in respect
of the shared internet connection(file sharing still
works). I'm afraid I still haven't managed to get it
back working again - seems like an XP problem to me, but
I am nervous of uninstalling stuff, in case I make things
worse.

They have 2 computers, one of them the host, the other
the client. ipconfig /all on the host gives:
Name:SALLY
Primary DNS Suffix:
Node Type:Unknown
IP Routing Enabled:Yes
WINS Proxy Enabled:No
Ethernet adaptor wireless network connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix:
Description:Actiontec USB 802.11b WLAN Adapter-Am
Physical Addres:00-20-E0-5D-23-4B
Dhcp Enabled:No
IP Address:192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask:255.255.255.0
Default Gateway:
PPP adapter BT Broadband:
Connection.......:
Descrtiption:WAN (PPP/SLIP) Interface
Physical Address:00-53....
Dhcp Enabnled:No
IP Address:81.152.238....
Subnet Mask:255.255.255.255
Default Gateway:81.152.238....
DNS Servers:194.74.65....
194.72.9....

And on the client:
Host name:ANN
Primary Dns Suffix:
Node type:Mixed
IP Routing Enabled:No
WINS Proxy Enabled:No

Ethernet adapter wireless network connection 2:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix:mshome.net
Description:Actiontec USB 802.11b WLAN Adapter-Am
Physical Address:00-20-.....
Dhcp Enabled:Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled:Yes
IP Address:192.168.0.186
Subnet mask:255.255.255.0
Default Gateway:192.168.0.1
DHCP Server:192.168.0.1
DNS Servers:192.168.0.1
Lease obtained:05 December 2003
Lease expires:12 December 2003

Pinging the server from the host works fine with either
the name or the ip address. File sharing works fine as I
mentioned. When I have uninstalled the networking
components on the client (only one is the detecting of
internet connection one), and reinstalled it then run the
network setup wizard again this hasn't helped. Sometimes
I can see their broadband connection from the client
machine in network connections, sometimes not - but it
never allows me to get anything from the internet either
way. The XP firewall is switched on for their internet
connection on the host machine, but it always was. They
have broadband internet through a modem attached to the
host.

Any more help that anyone can give me would be much
appreciated, or if more info required then please let me
know.

Many thanks,

Stuart

There isn't a wireless router, just two wireless usb
adaptors that connect the computers directly in a
wireless network.
