I'm trying to view the Workgroup Computers in the My
Network Places and it isn't working right. The following
error appears:

[Workgroup] is not accessible. You might not have
permission to use this network resource. Contact the
administrator of this server to find out if you have
access permissions.

The list of servers for this workgrouo is not currently
available.

I have a small home network and set up workgroups on
another XP machine and it worked fine. What gives with
this one?

William, were you able to solve this problem. I am having
the same trouble. Hope you can help me out.

I am also experiencing this problem did you ever get a
reply or a point in the right direction.
My workgroup will not allow me access any longer (it used
to) and I am considering just dropping all the network
setups and starting over...

I, too, have the same problem!
My home network was working fine 'til yesterday.
I have a desktop and a notebook. When I tried to access
the Workgroup from the notebook, the same error message
appears. I can access the internet via the wireless
router just fine. No TCP/IP discrepancy that I can detect.
Any ideas? Perhaps I should blame the solar flares?!

Make sure that XP's Internet Connection Firewall is disabled on the
local area network connection, as shown here:

Windows XP Internet Connection Firewall
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp/ic_firewall.htm

Make sure that NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled:

1. Open the Network Connections folder.
2. Right click the local area network connection and click Properties.
3. Double click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
4. Click Advanced.
5. Click WINS.
6. Click the Enable NetBIOS Over TCP/IP button.

Same boat here. Firewall is OFF and NetBIOS is enabled.

Just upgraded to XP on this PC plus i have a 98 PC and a
2k PC. The 2k PC could see and acces both XP and 98
PC's. 98 can now see the XP PC but can't access it. XP
could see 98 PC be can't access either. Same thing.
Network path not found".

NOW, the 2k PC can't see the XP PC, and the XP PC can't
even open the Workgroup and see itself.

Prior to XP everything was good!
