Susan

I have a new system with WIN XP NT File System installed.
In the past on my Old Win98 system I regualry used
Symantec's WinDoctor from their Norton's System Works...I
didn't use much else...just this and their version of
Defrag and I kept my machine running smoothly.

My question is: Is there something comparable in WIN XP
that I can use.
Also, if not, are there any known issues with with XP NTFS
and Win Doctor.
My old NSW is not compatible with WIN XP and I dont; want
to have to go out and buy another version if there is
something in WIN XP itslef I can use.

I have search MS knowledge base and bascially come up with
nothing.

Thanks

There is nothing in Windows XP that is comparable to Symantec's Norton
WinDoctor. The 2003 and 2004 editions of Norton SystemWorks have versions of
WinDoctor that are completely compatible with Windows XP and the NTFS file
system.

Many people, myself included, no longer feel the need for WinDoctor (and the
other utilities currently part of SystemWorks) because Windows XP has
advanced to the point that WinDoctor's results are almost always benign.
However, if you wish to continue using it, then by all means do not pay full
price for it. The Norton series of software is typically sold for next to
nothing, or even for free, after rebates kick in.

Hello Tom~
Thanks for the reply.

I will defintely wait to puchase NSW as I recently
purchased NIS which includes NAV and my virus defintions
dont; expire until November/2004...and I got so many
coupons I almost got it for nothing...and since I really
only want it for the WinDoctor I might as well wait until
my Virus Defins run out.

And it is reassuring to hear that even if I had WinDoctor
It wouldn;t come up with very much.

I was surprised to find the shop where I got my new system
from had used the NTFS file system...I was afraid I would
have application incompatibilities but so far so good.

Thanks again Tom
