Having read thru a stack of posts in this Newsgroup there
seems to be a lot of common issues with networking WinXP
and Win98. My problems only started happening about 3
days ago and I can't find the problem. Up until then I
could browse the 98 box from XP and vice versa without
any problems at all.

I get WinXP updates from Mocrosoft automatically and
although I have not made any changes to the configuration
this does not rule out any changes that are made as a
result of the updates.

I seriously suspect the automatic updates as being the
most likely cause.

I am using WinXP pro SP1 (+updates) and Win98SE (no
significant updates recently as not on Internet)

Any comments anyone ???

assuming the issue is that win98 can't access xp, make sure not firewall
running on xp.

John,

possible but unlikely, in my opinion. Please have a look at

This is with the firewall turned OFF. That was the first
thing I suspected and turned it off. Still no luck.

Tried the rollback. Rolled it all the way back 1 month
and now apart from having to reinstall several apps and a
printer - things still do NOT work.

Thanks anyway.
