I just installed a new motherboard for a friend. I can boot
from an old windows98se installation cd and everything
in the CMOS looks good.I am assuming the hardware is
configured properly. When I remove the bootable cd and try
to boot from the XP on the harddrive the computer restarts.
No luck with safe mode either. It looks like it gets to a
drivers folder then reboots. How can I get the drivers for
the new board loaded when I can't get into Windows? More
trouble. My friend cannot find here XP installation CD ROM.

Have you installed the BIOS software?
Also go into BIOS,exit page,select,"load set-up defaults"
Then save changes and exit BIOS.

Unless the new motherboard is virtually identical to the old one
(same chipset, same IDE controllers, same BIOS version, etc.), you'll
need to perform a repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade) installation, at
the very least:

As always when undertaking such a significant change, back up any
important data before starting.
