John G.

I have installed two SATA HDD's in the striped
configuration, partioned formatted NTFS and set active, I
Cloned the older IDE drive to the new drives using Norton
Ghost. All the data transfered seamlessy and can be
accessed using the old IDE drive, however I can't get the
SATA set to boot past the XP splash screen where it hangs
and locks up. The computer has not changed in any way
except the installation of the SATA drives.
If I try a clean install from the CD it tells me it can't
find a hard drive. The jumper settings on the ASUS A7N8X
board are set correctly and the This board does not
require the BIOS setting to be changed according to the
users manual.

Could the problem be in the cloned sysytem??

Please help.

Hi, you need to install the SATA drivers before you will be able to 'see'
the drive in windows. If performing a repair installation press F6 and load
them from the floppy disc that comes with your motherboard. However you may
be able to reconnect the drive to the IDE port, install the drivers from the
CD then shutdown and reconnect the drive to the SATA port.

The boot.ini is pointing to the ide, because that's what was in effect when
the system was installed.
