XP - who's connected to me?

Using XP Home, how do I tell who is connected to my computer?

Whenever I leave my laptop on for a while and then shut down, it tells me 1
user is connected. I'm on wireless and I'm wondering if one of my neighbours
is trying to read my files...

I know how to use Net Monitor in 98se but can't find the comparable utility
for XP.

First step is really to secure your wireless -

Rename the default SSID and hide it from being broadcast
Use 128-bit WEP and don't allow unsecured connections
Change the default admin account password on the access point

Then see if this problem still happens.
 
I am not familiar with XP Home, but try running "net sessions" at the command prompt
to see if it reports anything. If you are the only computer on "your" network then
disable file and print sharing and see the link below on basic tips for wireless
security including the use of a preshared key and implementing WEP to encrypt your

Adding to what's already been said.

Try this:

Right click "My Computer" -> Manage -> Shared Folders

Then look at both "Sessions" and "Open Files".

If they are accessing your files (using ms networking) it will show
you which one(s) at that moment.

PS. To check general network connections to your PC type "netstat -a"
at a command prompt. It will give you their IP address which:

can be

a) resolved to their MAC address (arp -a <ip address>)

or maybe

b) resolved to the computer and logon name (nbtstat -A <ip address>)
