Since I've spent so much time prowling for an answer to my problem and
finally found the solution for myself, thought I'd share.

I've had a 3 PC network running for nearly a year. A router/WAP is connected
to a cable modem, PC "A" is Win98 is connected via ethernet to the router,
PC's "B" and "C" are WinXP machines with wireless.

I never had a problem with file sharing or Internet access, but about a
month ago a series of events left me without the ability to ping PC "A" from
either other PC. All PC's could browse each other, had Internet access, PC
"A" could ping the other two, and "B" and "C" could ping each other.
However, I could not ping PC "A" from either "B" or "C". I could also not
access "A" with PcAnywhere.

After beating up the WinXP PC's for weeks looking for hidden firewall
settings to no avail I finally resolved the problem.

Uninstall TrendMicro InternetSecurity from PC "A"

I had tried disabling TMIS, but this was not sufficient. Only by removing
the program from PC "A" was I able to restore full network functionality.

Hope this helps someone.

Sure. Thanks for the report. Solutions are always welcome.
