Someone please explain to me the benefit of upgrading to
windows xp from 2000. I have used xp home edition and I
felt like an idiot using it. I found that I had lost all
control over my computer. I ended up formatting my
computer and installed windows 2000 on it, like what I
have at work. I grew up in the world of dos, and I like
2000, so someone please tell me the advantage of using xp
to 2000.

Thank you

Greetings

Windows XP is the most stable OS that Microsoft has ever released. Its
basicly Windows 2000 is more features and a different interface when you
first boot up. Windows 2000 does have more features then Windows XP Home,
but if you upgrade to XP Professional you get all those features back.

Personally, I would NOT upgrade from 2000 to XP. My experience is that 2000
is much more stable, and XP has a lot of maddening "enhancements." 2 years
on my old PC running 2000, I never had a single BSOD or even a system
hangup! On my new PC with XP, running the same apps, I get BSOD'd at least
once a week.

IMHO XP is full of fluff and window dressings that bogs you down. XP has
only one worthwhile benefit, System Restore, which you can get on your own
with Norton Ghost or similar products.

I'd go back to 2000 in a minute if I could (but I can't). JMHO.

XP is at least as stable as 2000. If you're getting BSODs, you
either have a hardware problem or something is very badly
configured.
