I used to have a working VPN connection to my work place from my home
XP PC. One day it just stopped working. It tried to connect and then
reports that the server is unavailable. The VPN server is up and
working. My internet connection is working just fine. Nothing changed
on my PC that I know of. I have my windows firewall turned off. All my
settings in the properties tabs are correct, as confirmed by my work
place, and in fact I can go to another PC at a cafe and get it to work
with the same settnigs.
What else is there for me to check to get it to work? When I ping the
server it is alive and well.

try to setup the router first. this post may help,

If the IT staff installed SP2 for windows Server 2003 at your work place
it's most likelly that the VPN stopped working. It's a know problem with the
recentlu released SP2 for Windows Server 2003

Hi,

Delete that VPN connection and use the wizard to create another. If it works
in a Cafe, then its probably your PC.

Hope that helps.
