i've posted some time ago, and now, still have this problem.
boxes are as follows:
XP Home, Work Group: MSHOME
- Client for Microsoft Networks
- VMWare Bridge Protocol
- Service Advertising Protocol
- File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks
- QoS Packet Scheduler
- Network Monitor Driver
- NWLink NetBIOS
- NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol
- Microsoft TCP/IP version 6
- Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
Vista, Work Group: MSHOME
- Client for Microsoft Networks
- VMWare Bridge Protocol
- QoS Packet Scheduler
- File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks
- Reliable Multicast Protocol
- Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)
- Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
- Link Layer Topology Discovery Mapper IO Driver
- Link Layer Topology Discovery Responder
Problem:
sometimes, i can "see" the other computer on the LAN, sometimes i cant, for
both computers.
in addition, when trying to connect to the XP box from the Vista one, it
tells me i cannot access it... upon using the diagnose function, it tells me
that pinging the XP box does not return any reply.
on the good days when i could see the Vista box on the network from this XP
one, it'd tell me the Vista box isnt accessible.
while the 2 boxes are up, i tried to get them to ping each other. nope, all
get the "Request Timed Out" message.
its weird, coz i can share files/printers using this XP machine with all my
other XP ones.
how do i resolve this problem?
