A buddy of mine is having a heck of a time browsing his files using XP.

We've clocked the exploring function at about 15-30 seconds to browse any
folder. Local or networked dosn't matter, exploring just takes a long
time.

Is there some setting that got tripped somewhere? It's a new machine with
good components but XP seems to be the problem.

Any Ideas what would be doing that?

Hi,
I have the same problem, but even worse (it can take
minutes). Actually, I posted a question about this
problem in this NG *today* - please see: Jul 14 2003 2:00
AM (Mikael). I haven't gotten any replies this far. The
problem is very annoying indeed. I too have have a brand
new computer that should be very fast. Anybody has any
idea what's wrong? (I have tried everyting,
defragmentation etc, but nothing helps).

So far it's like I've figured. XP is Just Win2K with too many goodies to
make it a reliable professional system.

Hope you get it fixed Mikael.
