I am upgrding from 32bit windows to 64bit windows. I put the disk in and boot
from startup to install the new version of windows. I make it to the part
where i can select to continue and install, do a system restore, or exit
setup. At that point when i click enter to continue to install, the next
message i recive tells me that it could not detect a harddrive plz make sure
it is turn on, powered on, and connected, and that i may need to run some
setup from the manufacturer, refering to the harddrive manufacture i guess...
At this point i am lost. and can't figure out what to do, plz help!

I had windows xp professional x64 installed on the computer when i bought it,
but ended up just runing the 32bit windows. I have amd 4400 chipset, abit
guru ax8 motherboard, 2G ram, 200G hard drive so i know its compatable.

Can't upgrade from 32 to 64. Clean install required.
The message could mean that you need to load drivers when the F6 prompt
appears during setup. The ones most commonly needed on the newer 64bit
systems are the drivers for the SATA controllers.
