#1 Computer -
XP Home version -
5 User accounts all had admin privilages ( I know a no no)
DSL
MS Wireless Router - Ethernet cable connection

#2 Computer -
Win98SE
This computer works fine

Symptom: Started after download of XP updates (14 Nov )

When logged on as anyone other than the original "Owner" account, there is
no DSL connection.
Unknown - do I have a connection to #2 computer.

Owner account works as it should, #2 computer works as it should. Any idea
why the other accounts cannot access the internet now?

Thanks in advance.

Have you verified that the users have IP addresses when they log in? This
is the first thing to check if you have lost connectivity. If you open a
command box and type "ipconfig /all" and post the output, I might be able to
help.

I get the same result with all the users, they are all the same. Which is
what I would expect from one computer. I prefer not to post IP addys here,
but if you are looking for something specific I should be looking for I'll
let you know.

Anything else I can check for?

Thanks for your help

Bob

Basically, you want to ensure that your machines have valid IP addresses,
and not autonet addresses. Your router, by default, should be handing out
192.168.x.x addresses, along with a valid subnet mask and gateway. The
gateway should be 192.168.0.1 unless you have setup your router to hand out
a different subnet of addresses.

If everyone has a 192.x address, trying pinging the default gateway. If
that is succesful, then I'm not sure exactly what the issue could be.
