I am using XP Home. I orginally setup my user account with the userid of
"wilson". After setting it up, I decided I wanted to change the name to
"jwilson". The "user account" tool allowed me to do this and on the login
screen it shows up as "jwilson"; however, when I do a <ctrl><atl><del> and
display logged in users it shows "wilson" on the console and not "jwilson".
How can I change this?

I thought the MKB article 310441 would change this but it doesn't. I did
all of the recommendations in it.

Thanks

You cannot change this. The "Wilson" account can only be changed for the
normal log-in screen. This is a visual change only. This does not change the
actual account name. If you open Windows Explorer and navigate to
C:\Documents and Settings, you will notice that the old user name "Wilson"
is also the name on the parent folder for that account.

The only way to change this system wide is to create a new user called
JWilson with Administrator privileges. You will then need to take ownership
of the user account folders and files in C:\Documents and Settings\Wilson.
After this is accomplished, you can then copy the old user account files and
settings to the new user account. The following articles will guide you.
