I recently installed a PCI USB 2.0 card to get those
incredibly useful extra USB ports, and the drivers were
crap and didn't install properly at all. I tried
absolutely everything before taking it back to the shop,
where I was told that it should have worked without the
drivers as xp has it's own.
So I try again, this time with a slightly more expensive
card, with more ports - xp still can't find the drivers
automatically, so I install them off the cd that came
with the card, and they work perfectly.
Apart from the fact that nothing plugged into any of my
new ports is recognised. I've tried everything, I
updated my BIOS, un-installed and re-installed the
drivers a ridiculous number of times, looked all over my
HD and the internet for drivers that might work, and I'm
so sick of staring at device manager that I might throw
my monitor out the window. I read something about IRQ
conflicts and stuff, but xp won't let me change these
settings, and it says there are no conflicts anyway; the
device and all drivers are in perfect working order.
Anyway, I've tried everything so I thought I'd give these
forums a go, any ideas?
