xp update problem

I reciently got win xp from my school (for free) and it worked fine for about 6 months. Now it will not update. Is the licence bad or is there some setting that i am unaware of?

I just recently figured this one out! My date and time were set to year
2040, i changed it to the correct date and my windows updates started
working fine. i hope this is what you were looking for! let me know!
