XP update and Outlook Express 6

Hope one of you gurus can help. Been searching online for hours with no
success.

Problem:
2 days ago there was an automatic update for XP on my computer. Since then I
cannot get any message displayed in the message box of Outlook Express 6. It
remains blank and the pointer in that section is a permanent hourglass. This
is also the case with newsgroup messages and neither can I type a new
mail/news in the email/newsgroup message box.

Although I'm posting this in my second computer there are previously saved
messages that have reference information that I occasionally need.

very frustrating!

0. BACK UP your OE 6 store folder now!! BACK UP IT NOW!

1. Could you un-install that update and see if it could fix it?

2. You might want to upgrade to Window$ Live Mail after disabling OE 6.

Have you yet rebooted the problematic computer?

If a reboot doesn't complete the installation of the updates, have you
tried using System Restore to just before those updates occurred?

Thanks for your replies, have installed Windows Live Mail which is working
ok
