Plugging in a Lexar JumpDrive 2.0 Pro portable storage
device results in an "Unknown Device" message. The
package is marked "designed for Windows XP" and the
JumpDrive works in another XP computer. It also works in
a Windows 2000 laptop. Windows Update reports that the
drivers are current. Any troubleshooting ideas?

Greetings --

Have you installed the drivers that came with the device?

Same Problem Here. If you go to www.lexarmedia.com there are no
drivers for the device. Windows Device manager says there are no
drivers for the device. My device also works fine on a 2K laptop.
Other devices work fine on this PC as well. I tried Live support on
Lexar's site and the lady is supposed to be emailing me
instructions...

Will post them when I get them...

Didn't work for me, but I promised to post them...

Hello,
Please search for below files under your system if files not found
please save usbstor.sys and usbntmap.sys files under
C:\windows\system32\drivers and usbstor.inf under C:\windows\inf and
usbmphlp.pdr file under c:\windows\system\iosusbsys then follow below
instructions.
For Jumpdrive you have will not need any drivbers for windows Xp.
the JUMPDRIVE should be installed as USB mass storage device. The
drivers for the USB mass storage device are written by microsoft and
are embedded within Windows XP operating systems.
Now please do this.
Now Plug the Jumpdrive into the rear USB port and goto My computer
and check for a removable drive under My computer. Double click that
Removable drive, you will find the pictures which are in the card.
If you cannot find the Removable drive,
Goto Device manager and check for the USB device which is marked with
an Yellow ? mark under Universal serial Bus controllers
Double click that device and click on drivers tab and click on update
drivers.Continue the driver update wizard.Select the recommended
option and in the new screen check specify a location option and type
the
following location c:\winnt\inf or c:\windows\inf and click on Next.
Now the wizard searchs for the driver file and displays it when it
found the correct driver. If the wizard selects usbstor.inf file,
click on Next and
finish the installation procedure and goto My computer and check for
the removable drive.
If the wizard dont select usbstor.inf file and selects another file,
please check in that screen you will find a option where the wizards
describes that it found another drivers for the reader.Check that
option and click on Next and then select the Microsoft RGB driver
which is usbstor.inf and finish the installation and check for the
removable drive. Please get back to me with the results.

Best Regards,

Lexar Support
