I am getting that error message about Network Level Authentication when
trying to connect to Vista. I am running th refresh version of SP3 but still
no go. What can I do?

The XP version of the Remote Desktop (RDC) client does *NOT* support NLA.
You need to configure the XP RDC client like this...

If your Vista RDC host/server machine expects connection attempts from XP
clients then you need to configure it like this.

You can check to see if your Remote Desktop (RDC) client supports NLA by
starting the RDC connectiod then clicking on the small icon in the upper
left corner. Select "About" and look for the words "Network Level
Authentication supported".
