I have 2 machines in my office one with XP & the other
with 98. These two pcs were succesfully networked with
ethernet cards & cable and provided me with file, printer
& internet sharing. At some point not long after dabbling
in music file sharing on the 98 machine my network
abilities deteriorated until I could not even access my
dialup on that pc. I have reformatted that pc &
reinstalled win 98 on it.The XP cd based network wizard
successfully completes network setup on the win98 pc. On
the xp the wizard reports an error and cannot complete.
All network devices show that they are working properly in
the device manager, the cables are connected and the
activity lights on the back of both cards are on. The
troubleshooter brought no help.
