XP system restore won't start "Error: signature"

After the security update 3/15/06 (+/-) my system restore won't start. I get
"Error: signature AppName rstrui.exe mod name srrstr.dll with version
#5.1.2600.2180.
The file date for rsrtui.exe matched SP2, so I removed SP2 and reinstalled
it. No change. I removed the security updates from 3/1/06 on and
reinstalled them. No change.
Any thoughts out there?

I would suggest reinstalling System Restore.
