I turned on my desktop this morning, and everything was
fine until I tried to log on to the internet. The system
kept freezing, so I ran a system and virus check - the
virus check kept getting locked up at a System 32 file -
MSCTF.dll. Does anyone know what the problem is? I don't
have a clue how to figure this one out. I have system
disks - should I reload them or will that be a bad thing?
I've had the computer for just over a year, and I've never
had a problem with it before.
Thanks.

msctf.dll is part of the Windows XP operating system.

Don't know what "system check" you ran, but if your (unidentified) virus
scanner is locking up, may I suggest that you contact technical support of
the company that wrote your virus scanner software.

Out of interest: Do you not have your antivirus program set to load at boot
and automatically scan whatever comes into your computer? If your virus
scanner does not offer this important feature, may I suggest you reconsider
your choice of an antivirus program.
