Has anyone found a solution or has any news about this
problem (which looks related to symantec products like
Norton antivirus and Norton personal firewall)?
You might want to see how many programs are loading up
when you boot your pc. Go to start, click run, type in
msconfig and hit ok. When the window pops up, click the
last tab on the upper right titled start up. See how
many items are checked; this is how many items that are
loading when you boot. Uncheck them all and hit apply at
the bottom; you'll have to restart your pc for the
changes to occur. I just switched to xp from 98 and it
is a larger program and takes longer to boot even with
all program closed before booting. This does not harm
your pc; you can access that stuff anytime and there is
no need for it to all load up when you boot. Hope this
helps, dv..
