I recently built a new machine and made a clean install
with Windows XP Pro. During the initial installation I
never did get the CD-burner to be recognized by our Nero
burning software and it instead persisted on recognizing
the image burning function and not the drive itself. In
attempting to figure out why it was doing this, but was
unsuccessful in doing so. I didn't tweak any thing in the
registry or system files I am aware of .. and I did not
change anything to the best of my knowledge.

I shut the machine down and walked away, and went to work
in the morning. I came home that night and my wife told
me the machine had never shut down and instead kept
flashing an error screen message that reads something to
the effect that Windows failed to start due to a possible
hardware or software change. I was mystified.

I watched it as it flashed this message, then gave me the
option to start the thing in safe mode, in the last known
good configuration mode, and to start in normally. I
chose every single one of those, and in the last two, it
flashed the blurb screen but never started either time.
On the safe modes, I get the standard avalanche of info
relating to what's starting up, but the machine then
stops and again restarts.

I am really at a loss. My ministerial work came to a
crashing halt on the techno end, but I worked through the
dead end it got me. However, I do direly need to get that
machine working again.

Any advice would REALLY be appreciated most kindly.

Cordially
