XP startup changes color intensity

I use XP SP2. I have set the color intensity to 32-bit, but some program in
my startup is changing it to 8-bit. It isn't something in my actual
"Startup" folder -- there's very little there. I can see what time it
happens, but can't find the log that shows what time each program started.
Also, can anyone give me a clue as to what software might be doing this?

8 bit , AFAIK , would have to be a very old program .
