XP starts the shuts down

My windows xp home edition starts up and before i can start any applications i get the following message on screen, Windows must now restart because the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service terminated unexpectedly.The computer then restarts windows and the message reappears and the cycle continues.
 
Sounds like you have inherited a virus like MSBlast, do virus check and go
to Norton website for removal tool and patch.
