When I switch to the XP Start menu I get only the left panel. There
is
no "run" or "search", etc. It also says I have too many items in the
start menu, etc. The classic start menu works fine. Is there a way
to
fix this?

Right click the Start button | Properties | Start Menu tab | Customize
button | General tab | Reduce the number for Number of programs on
Start
menu
Number of programs on Start menu
[[Specifies the maximum number of programs to display in the most
frequently
used programs list on the Start menu. You can increase or decrease the
number. ]]

Hope this helps. Let us know.

Nope, I reduced the number to "1" and I still get the message.

Well, since that's not working - try taking off one or two things that
can
be added via Taskbar/Start Menu properties. For example, things like
My
Pictures, My Videos - these are subfolders of My Documents so their
appearance is a bit redundant. Maybe Network Places which can be
opened
from Control Panel or My Computer instead).
