In windows media player 9 (or zoomplayer, bsplayer etc.), if the volume is
turned down any in the player, when you move the progress slider, it makes
the volume come out at maximum unless you touch the volume slider again.

Example, I have something turned down to 50. If I skip forward or something,
it plays the volume at 100. Rather annoying

anyone else experiencing this?
was not like this prior to installing sp2

Perhaps Media Player 9 is not compatible with sp2 - or, sp2 is not compatible with MP9.
The excuses you will most likely hear here will be that your zoomplayer and/or bsplayer are to fault.

IMO - if your volume worked just fine pre sp2 is should work fine post sp2. What business does a 'security' related update have in doing ANYTHING that may involve your volume settings? NONE!

A good sp (any sp) install would read a system for hardware and software configurations and settings, advise the user of any potential problems so they can be corrected and then give the user a CHOICE (a work microsoft detests) of non-security items/settings changes, new apps, etc. that may be installed/inserted.

Example - Install has found a number of malware items on this computer that will interfere with the installation process. Would you like Install to remove them?
Example - Install has found that zoomplayer is installed on this computer. Install can not guarantee a good install with zoomplayer installed. Please uninstall zoomplayer and try again.
Example - Install will now add some Microsoft related items to your Favorite/Links folder. Accept? Reject?

Etc, etc.

If this behavior is common across three different players, it could be a
number of things.

First, the most obvious would be sound card drivers. One of the
prerequisites to installing any new OS or major service pack is to check for
updated hardware drivers.

Second, it could be the result of a bad SP2 installation. If you had any
anti-virus or other programs running during the upgrade, this can cause
problrms for the installation program when it tries to replace files that
might be in use.

Third, it could be a legitimate bug in SP2. You might want to post back to
this thread exactly what you find when troubleshooting this behavior.
