I can't open a .pdf file from a website anymore, since installing SP2. I
can only download.

Has anyone else noticed this?? Is there a way around it?

Article 883260 is about attachments. I never open attachments unless I know
who they are from and what they are.

My question is different - when I run across a pdf file in a Google search
and want to see what's in it, I have previously been able to open it just by
clicking on the link. Then I can save it to the hard drive if I want to keep
the information.

But now I just get a box with two options: DOWNLOAD and CANCEL.

switch off firewall!!!! no way,so now i car'nt use my web
site properly also if you try to remove service pack2 it
will also take files you need with it ==you know what i
think of service pack2 ==ken.

Yes, I've heard of many problems with SP2. So I suppose MS need to get to
work on an SP3!

Are you using Norton?
disable Norton firewall and use Windows firewall.

Q883260 also includes new policies about downloads in IE6 SP2; among them is
PDF files.

Dear Sir,

I regurally Create and use use Acrobat PDF Filese in
Intranet Websites that we have in our company.

Recently I downloaded Microsoft latest Critical Security
Update for Windows Xp.

Now None of the PDF's will Display in the Browser.

The New Active Content Tool vbar stops them.

How can I get them to display.

Is there any way that I can switch off the potential
Active Content in a PDF File when I am Creating it.

kind regards,

Michael Mc

Ireland.

Are you going to abandon mvps.org host? Do I have to reassociate all of my
Bookmarks!?!?!?! <argh>

I don't have plans to abandon the mvps subweb, but may no longer add any
page. I've also mirrored the utilities (such as toolbarcop ~100k) to
winxptutor and this should definitely reduce the load on mvps servers.

I have noticed this same issue. Specifically, refered to in this discussin
here -->

However, still can not work around the problem. what to do? what to do?
Thanks

I've seen this. SP2 blocks popups if you aren't in an intranet zone.
