Windows XP XP SP2 Media Center Windows Installer problems

Hello all! Glad I found the forum!

I had a friend over that installed a game on my computer, while he was doing the installation he kept getting the windows installer popping up and wouldn't go away. I came back and he told me he "fixed" it, by disabling it in regedit. I cannot for the life of me now figure out how to re enable the installer. Any ideas?
 
Tried both, no avail. I wonder what the heck is up! I even tried restoring the registry settings from a backup.
