xp sp2 & internet firewall

dumb question. I have McAffee firewall installed & if I should successfully
install SP2 , do I need to uninstall McAffee firewall. I have tried twice to
install SP2 & both times crashed my computer
 
There have been a couple of posts today, in various winxp groups, re
problems installing sp2 - they both indicated that the sys should be
thouroughly scanned for both virus & malaware, defrag, run Disk Cleanup,
check hardware drivers upto date (at PC or hw suppliers NOT winupdate),
check bios for update, delete restore points & create a clean one first
