XP SP2 freezes my laptop

Hi, I have a Medion Cybermax MD41349 FID2130 Laptop and without XP SP2 it
works fine but soon as I install XP SP2 it keeps locking up my system :-(
Every so often it just locks up for about 5 mins and in this time the clock
loses time for every minute it locks up!?
It's getting really annoying now :-( out of about one hour on my laptop its
locked up 50 mins in total adding up the 5 min lock ups.
But if I was to unistall XP SP2 my laptop would go back to normal and work
ok with no problems at all.
I can't not install SP2 as I know it's needed, so anyone have any idea why
it locks up my system?
At the moment I just have SP1 installed after formatting my laptop to start
a fresh and see if I can get helpefore I do reinstall SP2.

Because Microsoft has some kind of problem with their discussion groups
that doesn't make it clear that this is a .Net general discussion group.
