XP SP2 Black Screen

Every time I install XPSP2 everything is fine for a few minutes then
suddenly the screen goes black and the monitor power light flashes as if it
is in standby mode. Nothing short of a reset of the computer can bring the
monitor back to life. If I boot in Safe Mode everything works fine, but as
soon as I go back to normal mode the problem reoccurs, between one and five
minutes after booting. Using system resore to go back to before SP2 was
installed cures the problem.
Any ideas?
 
Before you install SP2 and before you restart pc,go to run,type:cmd
In cmd type:CHKDSK C: /F Agree to restart,type:EXIT Install SP2
 
No joy I'm afraid. Still the same problem
