XP SP2 "Access is Denied"

I am trying to install XP SP2 on a machine using XP Home Edition. I get an
Access Denied message about half way through the install. The setuapi.log
file has 2 error 5 entries:
#E065 Parsing Addreg Section [Product.add.reg] in
"c\5da34d6fa58f7a029346a97ac2ef\i386\update\update.inf" failed. Error 5
Access is Denied the other is #E064 Parsing Install Section [Product
Install.Global Registry Changes.Install] in "c\5da etc etc (Same as Eo65
for the rest. I see lots of evidence of the problem on the net but no
actual solutions. Please, has anyone any idea how to solve the problem?

You're not very good at picking the right newsgroup <G>!

This problem has nothing to do with Windowsxp.basics! Try
microsoft.public.windowsupdate

Hi Bob,
I would like to know if you are installing from the SP2 CD or via
download from MU. I think you are posting in the right NG.
