do you have to do the service patches in order?

If load sp3 only, does that include sp1 and sp2 fixes?

thanks.

If the installation was made with a CD that doesn't include any service packs,
you need to install one of the earlier service packs before installing SP3. If
you try to install SP3 on a computer running XP with no service packs installed,
you'll see this error message.

Service Pack 3 Setup Error

The solution is to install Service Pack 2 first, then Service Pack 3. SP2 can be
obtained either through the Windows Update site or here.

Developers

Note: If you've already installed SP1, you can upgrade directly with SP3.

Good luck

Service packs for Windows XP are (always have been) cumulative.

Cumulative means they contain everything before them - so SP3 contains SP1a,
SP2 and everything between SP2 and SP3.

The only *catch* in this case is if you have a working install that has *no*
service packs. You have to at least have SP1 installed on the working copy
in order to install SP3.

ok, thanks a million!
