I reformatted the hard drive, installed Windows ME and
then upgraded to XP Home Edition (the client only had XP
Upgrade), and the all the applications. Now the client
says everything is moving very slowly; instead of 10
seconds to do something, it takes 2 minutes. What could
I look for?

It may have better to do a clean install. You can do a clean install with
the XP Upgrade. Set the BIOS so the CD drive is the first boot device, boot
from the XP CD, partition, format and install XP. It will ask for a
qualifying product, at which time you insert the ME CD.

Did you install xp in its own partition thus creating a dual boot system, or
did you load it over the top ?
